‘Super Senso’ 1.8 Update Adds More Challenges, Med-Bot and Saboteur Units, and More

‘Super Senso’ 1.8 Update Adds More Challenges, Med-Bot and Saboteur Units, and More

If you’ve been enjoying the Advance Wars-like Super Senso [Free], you’ll be glad to know that Update 1.8, which has just gone live, adds more content to the game. The new update adds more Challenges to the game, since they appear to be fan-favorites. Challenges are one-turn puzzles and can be quite the brain teasers. There are also 3 new advanced tutorials that should help new players get the hang of the game faster. More interestingly, we are getting two new units: Med-Bot and Saboteur. Med-Bots have weak attacks but heal adjacent allied units at the start of both yours and the opponent’s turn. Saboteurs are fast infantry units with the ability to evade the first instance of damage each turn.

The update is also adding a new map called Twin Temples I, reworking Warp, improving the UI, and also throwing in plenty of bug fixes and optimizations that you can check out here. Let me know what you think about the new update and new units in the comments below.

‘MouseBot: Escape from CatLab’ is Vector Unit’s Cat-Filled Next Game

‘MouseBot: Escape from CatLab’ is Vector Unit’s Cat-Filled Next Game

Vector Unit is trying something new for the studio. They’ve been known for their racing games, including Beach Buggy Racing [Free] and Riptide GP: Renegade [$ 2.99]. MouseBot: Escape from CatLab is somewhat familiar, as ‘driving’ still plays a role in the game, but this isn’t a racer. Instead, Vector Unit is trying to tackle a sort of challenging trial platformer. You control the eponymous MouseBot, a robotic mouse that’s being experimented on by cat scientists. They’re cute, but they’re here to run their experiments for some evil mad cat scientist. As MouseBot, you have to make it through their increasingly-hazardous tricks and traps. Get a first look at a new trailer for the game:

This starts off with you just steering MouseBot, who much like the Energizer Bunny, just keeps on going and going. A key part of the gmae is recognizing the patterns of different hazards, and keeping from running into a squishy robot mouse death. Giant spike stompers may be placed next to another, and you might have to drive right into one that’s down, because it’ll be on the way up as you drive past it. Later levels give you a handy jump, though there’s more dangers to try and outwit.

Also challenging you is the optional objective to collect pieces of cheese as you traverse the levels. Each level has a goal amount of cheese, with rewards for collecting all those cheeses. These cheeses test you to take some more dangerous paths through levels, such as outwitting a trap rather than going around. Also, there are mouse traps spread throughout the levels. These will take you out right away, and because they have cheeses on them, you have to pay particular attention to them. Is that a cheese to collect…or a mouse trap that will lead to your demise?

MouseBot features simple controls, where you can tap left and right to steer in that direction, with acceleration handled autmoatically. Levels have a time limit, but odds are that unless you’re running into a lot of walls or trying to backtrack for cheeses, you won’t hit it…for a while. You get a jump button as well, which is placed above the steering buttons. The touch controls work well, and jumping combined with steering works well enough thanks to the jump button on each side. If you prefer physical controllers, Vector Unit has you covered. There will be gamepad support on both iOS and Android versions of the game, including support for TV platforms like the Apple TV including remote support.

While MouseBot is free-to-play, players will be happy to know that there will be a big, one-time, premium unlock IAP. This doesn’t remove the monetization entirely, but what it does is that it eliminates the lives system entirely so you can restart as many times as you like. AS well, it gives you an additional cheese bonus for every level so you can unlock outfits more often. The energy tokens that are used to unlock more checkpoints are earned either by getting the cheese goal on a level, or by buying them outright. The levels are designed to not be overly long anyway, but it does help.

Mousebot is near completion, and should be releasing soon, in the spring. It’s an interesting game that feels a bit different from Vector Unit’s stuff while still familiar. In particular, the physics of your MouseBot give the game a feel like it’s serious despite being a kind of cute game. Though, despite any cuteness, later levels will test your reflexes and MouseBot navigation skills to their absolute peak. Definitely keep an eye out for this one from Vector Unit.

‘Warfriends’ Latest Update Adds New Units, a New Map, and More

‘Warfriends’ Latest Update Adds New Units, a New Map, and More

Warfriends [Free] continues to be a very entertaining game with a pretty big player base, so I’m not surprised to see the developers quickly updating the game to offer more content and keep players busy. The 1.2 update, which just released, adds a new map built around an abandoned theme park, 10 brand new weapons, 4 new Tier 6 units to add to your troops, and a new co-leader squad role. Also, the update extends ranks up to Rank 43. Another welcome addition is punishing those who drop out of games; leaving a game after an opponent has been found now costs a dogtag. There’s also a new “Report Cheater” option to the results screen, which makes me wonder how big of an issue cheating is in this game to require a button for it. At the same time, the game has added server-side anti-cheating and anti-hacking checks.

There are a lot of balance changes as well, like Defenders dealing reduced damage to enemy player and various weapon tinkering. You can see all the changes here. Overall, a pretty good update that should give you more to do and make playing – hopefully – more fun. The update is live, so go check out the new map.

‘DomiNations’ Atomic Age Update Brings New Units and Wonders of the World

‘DomiNations’ Atomic Age Update Brings New Units and Wonders of the World

Big Huge Games and Nexon M’s DomiNations [Free] keeps on rolling through eras of history. After the World War content from the previous major update, now DomiNations enters the Atomic Age. Representing the time after World War II, several new units and buildings are now available. The units include the helicopter and armored personnel carrier, which could prove to have a major impact on combat in the game. The helicopter is weak to fire from defending troops, but can wreak havoc on defensive buildings as it has range outside of many defenses. Meanwhile, the APC deploys heavy infantry every few seconds and has a machine gun for covering fire.

Additionally, new Wonders of the World have been added. The United Nations, Pentagon, Atomium, and Sydney Opera House can now be built. These all provide different in-game bonuses, such as the UN allowing for the spawning of a peacekeeping force full of unique units from all nations, along with bonus National Trade Goods.

The update with the new Atomic Age content is available on both iOS and Android.

Silly New ‘Clash Royale’ Commercials Show Off Various Units

Silly New ‘Clash Royale’ Commercials Show Off Various Units

Supercell has a history of producing silly commercials for its games – like the Rules of the Duel commercials from a month ago – so I’m not surprised they just released some silly new ones about various Clash Royale [Free] units. These videos are mostly sing-alongs and include all kinds of music styles performed in the silliest of ways. There’s a video about the Mini P.E.K.K.A, one for the Log (extremely silly one), and new Rules of the Duel videos that show off the Giant Skeleton, the (hated) Prince, and even enemies in general. All of them are very well made, as is always the case, and are definitely charming enough to get people who haven’t played the game interested in trying it out.

I’m not surprised we are getting another wave of commercials now because Supercell seems to be putting a lot of work and money into making sure the latest Clash Royale update helps the game regain its player base. And from the looks of it, it seems to be working since Clash Royale is now the top grossing game in the US App Store. So, apparently it’s work well done.

The Ice Spirit and the Bowler are the New ‘Clash Royale’ Units Revealed in Sneak Peek #2

The Ice Spirit and the Bowler are the New ‘Clash Royale’ Units Revealed in Sneak Peek #2

If you’ve been wishing for new Clash Royale [Free] units, you’re in luck as Supercell’s just revealed the Ice Spirit and the Bowler in Sneak Peek 2 for the upcoming update. New units are essential to keeping a game exciting, so I’m glad to see new ones coming our way. The Bowler is a 6-cost Epic card that unlocks at the new Arena 8, and the unit acts similarly to the Clash of Clans Bowler unit. In other words, he hauls boulders that bounce twice off their target, landing behind for a double strike. The first boulder also does pushback damage. As expected, the unit is slow and can take plenty of damage.

The Ice Spirit is a 1-cost common that also unlocks at the new Arena 8, and it spawns one “lively little Ice Spirit” that freezes a group of enemies. The unit can target both air and ground. As you upgrade it, its hit points go up but the freeze duration remains the same at 2 seconds, which is an interesting decision by Supercell. Personally, I’m not a big fan of spells in Clash Royale, but I’m fine with units that have spell-like effects like the Ice Spirit. We’ll see, of course, how the units play.

‘Clash of Clans’ Friendly Challenge Update with New Units and Spells Now Live

Supercell has just deployed a major update to Clash of Clans [Free] bringin some new units and much-requested features, man of which are inspired by Clash Royale [Free]. Veteran players will be excited for the Friendly Challenges, which allow you to take on fellow clan members in battles without losing any units in your army. As well, two new units have been added in. The baby dragon, one of my personal favorite Clash Royale units, is now in Clash of Clans. Unlockable at Town Hall 9, this adorable killer gets an enrage buff when solo. The Miner can burrow underground for dangerous attacks, and is unlockable at Town Hall 10. A dark elixir skeleton spell and regular elixir clone spell will help you turn the tide in battle. This update is now live, and it has some other features that will improve your experience, check out the full list at Supercell’s site.
